Incest

An incident with my Mummy

We set off on foot toward the bride’s home—a deliberate 3 km journey through the winding village lanes designed to build the baraat’s festive energy. The path was romantically lit by hanging lanterns and more strings of fairy lights woven between trees, the ground still pleasantly damp from the evening rain, making the night air feel exceptionally fresh and alive. Groups of other guests gradually joined our loose procession, laughter and chatter echoing warmly around us as we walked. The dhol drums had started up again in the distance, their rhythmic beats calling us forward like a siren’s song. Our sherwanis rustled with every step, the mojari shoes crunching softly on the gravel. Mummy walked comfortably between us, her heels clicking lightly, the luxurious red saree swishing sensually around her ankles and calves. Every occasional gust of breeze pressed the thin silk intimately against her body, outlining the shapely contours of her legs, the generous curve of her hips, and the gentle, mesmerizing bounce of her full breasts. The backless blouse provided tantalizing flashes of her bare, smooth back whenever she turned to chat with a passing aunty—skin that glowed warmly under the lantern light, inviting and flawless.

Pawan walked on her left, occasionally “accidentally” brushing his arm against hers as he pointed out a star or some distant light in the sky. Ravi stayed on her right, cracking jokes to draw out her beautiful laughter, his eyes dropping discreetly to her cleavage or exposed back when she wasn’t looking. I trailed a single step behind, watching everything with heightened awareness—the way her smile crinkled the corners of her eyes, how the low-cut blouse shifted subtly with each breath, and the way the saree pleats whispered against her thighs. The old summer memories from that fateful bathroom encounter mingled powerfully with the present, making the night air feel electrically charged, humming with invisible currents just beneath our skin. Whispers of long-buried desire stirred again, stronger and more insistent in this festive, moonlit haze.

Then it happened in a single, heart-stopping instant.

The sharp click of her high heel snagged on something slick and hidden in the shadows—a fresh, steaming patch of cow dung left behind by wandering village cattle earlier that evening. Mummy gasped sharply, a quick intake of breath as her arms flailed in a desperate windmill for balance. Gravity showed no mercy. She went down hard on her side with a muffled thud and a sharp, pained cry that sliced straight through the peaceful night. The luxurious red silk saree—already clinging slightly to her body from the humid air—splattered messily across the foul patch. Dark, wet, sticky patches bloomed instantly across the delicate pallu, seeped deeply into the intricate pleats, and crept upward along the fabric toward her waist, staining the rich crimson with ugly, spreading brown streaks. The pungent, earthy stench rose immediately, thick and unmistakable, overpowering the jasmine and woodsmoke.
