Keshav: Mom… I feel the same. I know how wrong it is. But I can’t stop thinking about you either. About everything we shared.
There was another long silence.
Kalpana: I don’t know what to do, Keshav. I don’t know how to face you. I don’t know how to be your mother after everything that’s happened between us.
Keshav: We don’t have to figure everything out tonight. We can take it slow. But please… don’t cut me off completely again. Even if we never talk about those things again, I still want to talk to you. As your son.
Kalpana: I don’t know if I can go back to being just your mother after everything. But… I also don’t want to lose you completely.
They talked for almost two more hours that night.
They spoke about small things — how Sonam was doing in her MBA, how Sanjay’s business trip was going, how Keshav’s work in Bangalore was, and how Kalpana was managing at college. They spoke about health, about how both of them hadn’t been eating or sleeping well these past eleven days. They spoke about the guilt, the confusion, and the strange pull that still existed between them despite everything.
By the time they finally said goodnight close to 1:30 AM, both of them felt emotionally drained but also slightly lighter.
Before ending the call, Kalpana spoke one last time.
Kalpana: Keshav… I need time. I don’t know what this means for us. I don’t know if we can ever go back to normal. But… I’m glad I called you tonight.
Keshav: I’m glad too, Mom. Take all the time you need. I’ll be here whenever you’re ready.
After the call ended, Keshav sat in the dark for a long time, staring at his phone.
For the first time in eleven days, he felt a small sense of relief.
But he also knew that this was far from over.
The conversation they had tonight was only the beginning.
And whatever happened next between him and his mother would decide everything.
Chapter 19: The Visit
One month had passed since that long phone call between Keshav and Kalpana.
After the emotional conversation that night, things had become strangely calm between them. They didn’t talk every day like before, but they stayed in touch. Kalpana would message him sometimes — short, normal messages about how she was doing, asking about his health, or sharing small updates about Sonam or Sanjay. Keshav would reply carefully, never pushing the topic of what had happened between them.
The intense sexual chats had stopped completely. There was no more “Aryan.” No more late-night dirty talks. No more fantasies shared. It was as if both of them were trying to find a new balance — somewhere between mother and son, and whatever strange, forbidden thing had grown between them over the past months.
Keshav had accepted that things might never go back to how they were during those secret chats. He had made peace with the fact that the intense, taboo connection they once shared might have ended forever after she discovered the truth.
But fate had other plans.
It was a Friday evening when Keshav returned to his flat in Bangalore after work. He had just taken a shower and was heating up some food when the doorbell rang.
