The Secret of Gatepass – 1

After Sunita got married, I found myself alone once again. Even though I wanted to, I couldn’t meet Sudha or Sunita because I didn’t want them to face any trouble because of me. That’s how my days were passing. But fate had something else written for me. Just two months after Sunita’s wedding, another thrilling incident happened in my life, and today I’m presenting that story in front of you once again, woven in my own words.

I still remember that day clearly. It was a Sunday, and I woke up quite late after sleeping in. I took a bath, freshened up, and was watching some program on TV. It was around 10:30 in the morning when someone knocked on my door. I opened it and found my friend Prem standing there.

As soon as he saw me, Prem said, “Saajan, come on yaar, I need to buy some clothes. Come with me to the market.”
Hearing the word “clothes,” it reminded me — “Yaar, I also need to buy some clothes. Wait one minute, I’ll be right back after putting on my shoes!”

I wore my shoes, put some money in my pocket, came out, and told Prem, “Let’s go now.”
We had just stepped out onto the road when we ran into another friend named Raju. Prem asked Raju, “Is Gatepass outside?”
Raju replied, “Yes, it’s there.”

I couldn’t understand what they were talking about. What was this “Gatepass”?
After Raju left, I asked Prem, “What is this Gatepass? What’s the secret behind it?”
Prem said, “You don’t know about Gatepass?”
I replied, “No yaar, I have no idea!”
Prem said, “Come, I’ll explain everything to you.”

We walked a little further down the road and stopped at one point. Prem pointed in a direction and said, “Look over there!”
I looked where he was pointing.

There was a four-storey building. On the first floor, a girl was standing. She was extremely beautiful. At that time, she was wearing half-pants and a T-shirt. She looked around 18 years old, height about 5’0″, and her breasts weren’t very large. Just seeing her, the words slipped out of my mouth — “Wow, what a piece!”
I asked Prem, “Who is she? What’s her name?”
Prem said, “Seen enough? Come on now, I’ll tell you everything on the way!”
And so we started walking toward the market. On the way, Prem explained, “You asked what Gatepass is, right? Well, that’s what we’ve nicknamed her — ‘Gatepass’. We still don’t know her real name.”
I said, “Oh, so that’s Gatepass. When did she come here?”
Prem replied, “It’s been about two months since she moved in.”
I asked, “Who all are after her?”
Prem laughed, “You’re not the only one — everyone else is too.”
I asked, “Has anyone succeeded yet?”
Prem said, “Not at all yaar! She doesn’t even give anyone the time of day.”
I said, “Okay then, I’ll try my luck. Maybe I’ll succeed.”
Prem teased, “We’ve all been trying for two months and nothing. You think you’ll manage it?”

His words made me angry. I got worked up and said, “You guys have had two months and still don’t even know her name. Just wait — in two days, she’ll be with me.”
Prem burst out laughing and said, “When it happens, make sure to tell me too!”
The conversation ended there.
