She was his. He was hers. Touching and teasing, fucking and sucking, kissing and cumming inside. Napping and waking up in each other’s arms, then doing it all over again.
Their car was ready after two days but she didn’t want it to end so hadn’t told him. She didn’t think he’d mind. She was happy to pay for another night. Neither of them wanted it to end, but they both knew it would have to. On the third day, as they sat in the diner for breakfast, she told him. It was time to move on. They reached Daniel’s dorm late that afternoon, and after unloading his things, he took her to the airport.
He dropped her off. They hugged goodbye. He got back into his car to pull away, but before he did, she knocked on the glass. He rolled down the window. “Remember. Our secret.” She stuck out her hand, pinky finger extended.
Daniel lifted his hand, pinky extended. She curled it in hers, sealing the deal.
The car pulled away from the curb. Amanda got on the plane back to Michigan. Daniel finished moving into the dorm and started school.
The plan. The plan was for Amanda to start dating again, find a great guy, and build a new life. Maybe she would make a family again, with kids of her own like she’d planned so many years ago before David died. Except this time she’d do it together, with a father who could share the load, and share in all the little joys too. But back in Michigan, Amanda was having second thoughts. Her heart wasn’t really into dating.
Their secret at Sindy’s was never far from her mind. After so many years of self-denial, those three days had been magical beyond her wildest dreams. Now she was thinking any other guy couldn’t be anywhere close to as good, close to as satisfying. She and Daniel had felt so close. It had all felt so right. She knew it was wrong at the time. She knew it couldn’t last. But she couldn’t help herself. She’d been powerless. It was like she’d thrown a monkeywrench into all her plans, and yet she couldn’t bring herself to regret a single minute of it.
Daniel’s time at school also did not go quite as planned. He didn’t feel like meeting any girls. He could see they were pretty. He even knew he could get one, or even more than one if he tried. Unlike before, when he’d been in high school, he was completely confident he could find a beautiful girl who would have sex with him. He could totally please her in bed. But he didn’t want to. She wouldn’t be Amanda, so it wouldn’t matter. He only wanted Amanda, and she was 2,000 miles away and off limits. She probably even had a boyfriend by now, he thought.
School was not going well and Daniel was homesick. The only problem was, he was afraid he didn’t even really have a home to return to. He didn’t want to get in the way of Amanda’s moving on. As the Thanksgiving holiday approached he didn’t know what he would do. Staying in the dorms seemed like a sad and pitiful option, although he knew it would be possible. His roommate had invited him, but he knew it was basically out of obligation. They didn’t really like each other. His sister was going to be with her fiance and his family.
