I was nervous whole time. I got ready and Amit’s car arrived. I got inside and went to the hospital. I felt very very nervous. I kept waiting at hospital for 20 minutes.
Doctor called me inside. I went into the Doctor’s room
Doctor asked “You are Ms…….?’
I replied “Neha doctor”
She said “Hello Neha. I am Dr. Anjali”
I said “Hello Doctor”
She said “I have good news and some bad news for you Neha”
I said “Please tell me doctor”
She said “Good news is you are perfectly healthy right now. “
“Thanks Doctor” I felt relieved.
She continued “Bad news is little complicated. “
I asked “What is it? Doctor” I said in nervous voice
She said “Well, Neha. …..It says you are on birth control”
I said “Yes Doctor”
She asked “Neha…..you are not married?”
I said “No Doctor”
She asked “Neha, Do you have boyfriend or fiancé?”
I said “No doctor”
She asked “Can you call your parents here? What I am about to say is extremely important.”
I said “I don’t have parents doctor”
She asked “I am very sorry to say this Ms. Neha. Sex can be fun in this age but please do be careful……alright?”
I said “I understand doctor”.
She said “I am saying this because you are young”
I said “Doctor. Actually I do have a boyfriend doctor but nothing serious in that relationship.”
She said “Neha can you bring your boyfriend here so that he can understand the situation better”
I said “Doctor. Our relationship is new one and it’s not serious.”
She said “Let me warn you that what I am about to say is very very important. Hence, It is better if you have someone close with you right now“
I said “I don’t have anyone close to me right now doctor”
My heart started racing like anything. What does she want to say? Will she say I am pregnant?
She said“Ok Neha……”
“Do you have any plans to get married?”
I said “No doctor”
She said “Neha…you said you have boyfriend but not serious boyfriend……..I don’t know what to say”
“Please doctor tell me what it is….”. in a nervous voice
She said “Neha……you have very low egg count”
I asked “What doctor?”
She said “Your egg count is very low. You will face problems with pregnancy in future. Right now, your issue is small. “
I asked “What are you telling doctor?”
She said “What I am saying is …… if you don’t have kids in next 2 years, you may never become pregnant in your life again
I said “Wow doctor”
She said “You will run out of eggs fast. Chances of you becoming pregnant after two years is almost impossible”
I felt my whole life is shattered. I already purchased apartments and a car. I have to pay EMIs. I have a new job now. I started to sweat.
Doctor asked “Neha…..are you ok?”
I said “yes” in a shaking nervous voice.
She gave me small sealed water bottle which was on table and asked me to drink it.
Meanwhile she got a phone call and she said “excuse me” and moved aside to take the phone call in corner of the room.
I took the water bottle with little shaky hand and started drinking it. I kept thinking.
It takes at least 5 years for me to settle down in life and to clear off EMIs. I can’t stop them in middle. What about Amit’s commission? What about my relationship with Rahul?
