The great priest stood in front of the large 10 feel height white marble statue of the great goddess ‘Maa Parvati’, dressed in just a long saffron ‘Dhuti’. He was a tall lean man in his early 40’s with long hairs, strong body and stern eyes behind his horn rimmed glasses.
Many devotees, mainly from Bengali community had gathered there with their desires and expectations…. they wanted blessing of the great Sanyasi Swami Nityananda Maharaj. The devotees were satisfied by seeing him…. and he not only fulfilled the desire of his devotees but also, gave them mental peace and serenity…. somehow he found out a solution of their problems.
Nityanandaji used to say his devotees the common consolation like…..‘It might be happened something more bad, and if not happened so, you must be greatful to the great Goddess Parvati. Actually people used to suffer for their own carnal desires which they aspired always and in accordance with the human nature, they got desires and necessary ways to fulfill them.’
The Holy monk used to give different types of Prasad like flowers, fruits, red thread, vermillion, bibhuti and holy water… cleaning the idols of various Gods and Goddesses. He was a great devotee of the Goddess Parvati and devil Satan. He was a renowned Yogi and he used to teach ‘Astanga Yoga’ as a powerful way to protect someone from the curse of Satan.
After the song, he gave a sermon about how Satan uses the temptations of the flesh to lure people to sin and that all the Hindus must guard against the Satan. He ended by saying that the next Thursday he would tell the congregation specifically what they must do to resist these temptations
Supriya couldn’t wait a week…… she had to get some answers immediately. As the priest stood at the door….. saying goodbye to his flock, she hung back… so that she was the last one out. The priest furrowed his brow when he saw her.
He was always a man of God…… devoting himself to the Goddess Parvati and savior, never allowing himself to stray from the path or indulge in temptation. This is until he noticed the tempting smile of his favourite disciple Supriya. He’d never lusted after a woman like this before, never once even thought about sex after he took his vows, and never has so much as touched himself.
Forgive me father for I guess I have lost my chastity,” Said Supriya…. hanging her hand in acute shame….. almost in whisper. “It’s been two weeks since my last confession.”
“May the Goddess Parvati be in your heart and confess your sins with pure heart…… But what took you so long, my child?” He asked.
“It seems my life…. my family’s status….. my image going to be shattered,” Supriya said. “And I…. I was scared about those.”
“There is nothing to fear, tell me what is on your heart,” He queried in a heavenly smile. “Come with me….. and confess your sins to Maa Parvati.” as he proceeded to the beautiful marble statue.
“I have sinned, Guruji. I need the almighty’s forgiveness….. lots of forgiveness….. please help me, ” Kneeling down in front of Swami Nityananda, the well-known TV serial actress Supriya Chowdhury almost pleaded in tearful eyes….. folding her hands.
