( Few months back ) Madhu alias Kamini Soren sat on the concrete floor in her room in front of her deceased husband’s photo and started complying the ritual of loosing her husband, before bed. She did that almost every night by lightening a ‘Earthen-Prodip’, few incense sticks and mumbling prayers for some times in closed eyes for the the well-being of her deceased husband’s soul.
Everybody said it would be better in time….. that time would heal her depressed heart and she’d soon find the will-power to move on, but it seemed that the only thing time did was make it worse. The first few days after the funeral saw all of them oscillating between numb silence and deep crying. Kenaram tried to be strong for his widow daughter, and she tried to be strong for her son Birju….. the three often just hugged each other for solace and cried in other’s arm.
She often found herself tremendously depressed…. loosing her husband more and more with every passing day. Marrying again was only a thought she’d flirted with. And for a woman of late thirty, with signs of how she’d look when she would be sixty….. starting to show because of the constant frown on her face…. it wasn’t easy to find the proverbial satisfaction.
A couple of days passed since the tragic day….. that day she was sobbing….. tears running down her eyes….. head on her father’s chest as she whispered, “What are we going to do without him?”
Kenaram’s eyes also filled with tears noticing his widow daughter’s grief as he pulled her more to him who was wearing a Saree only….. without bra, blouse and Saya ( Petticoat ). He let her cry once again into his naked chest to lessen her grief….. while shuffling her silky hair affectionately. He couldn’t think of how to answer her and comfort her as his hand moved down from her head to her back. He started caressing her naked back….. enjoying the soft pressure and rubbing of her melon-like tits on his chest over her thin Saree.
On many occasions, he noticed since her husband’s death, she couldn’t hold her tears back. He said all he could think of, which was, “We’re going to do what Baldev ( Kamini’s deceased Husband ) would have wanted for us. We’ve to survive along with this grieve….. and then we’re going to find ways to be happy even while we’ll still miss him.”
