Ideal Loving Family : 4

Meanwhile few minutes later, Subhankar came down from first floor with a beating heart….. expecting a hot talk between his wife and mother-in-law. But it seemed his mother-in-law was able to calm down the gloomy situation. He stood outside his room and he could hear the chatter as his wife excitedly talked about her mother’s pregnancy.

“No need to wait outside,” Munmun turned towards the door where her husband standing in a conflicting mind. “Get it together and come into the room. We have something to discuss…. stud.” When he entered the room, he found his wife sitting on the couch while his mother-in-law sat beside her.

“Sit down,” Munmun told her husband, gesturing at the chair opposite the pair. As he sat on the chair, she asked, “YOU did?”

“Mun… we just…” Subhankar tried to say.

“I can understand,” Munmun tried to defuse the heavy atmosphere, and then leaned back. “So here we sit with my mother who is just glowing with a baby in her belly. Oh yes…” She looked at her mother again, “Being pregnant is the best thing for you, I can see that.”

“Baby, it’s a mistake from me….. I should take precaution,” Mrs. Sen said politely….. trying to protect her son-in-law.

“Do you see what a great mother I’ve?” Munmun looked at her husband’s eyes, “You know how much I love you and I expected you would never do anything behind me…. but now you committed incest…. and deliberately knocked up your own mother-in-law.”

“Baby…” Mrs. Sen gasped.

“What are you going to do now?” Subhankar finally found the words.

Munmun laughed, “I don’t know about it’s solution. However I’m grateful you’ve finally made my mother happy by curbing her repressed passion but in doing so you’ve made her pregnant….. and we can’t keep it under the cover. Do you ever think it’s consequences when the matter of my widow mother’s pregnancy wouldn’t be no more secret?”

“I know it’s my fault,” Mrs. Sen once again cursed herself.

“No Maa, it’s not your fault. I know it’s too hard for a starving widow to be chastised herself after loosing her husband,” Munmun said looking at her mother compassionately for few moments. “Anyway, we can’t get back anymore whatever we’ve lost….. but I think still there’s one and only way of solving this horrible problem.”

“What’s that?” Mrs. Sen and her son-in-law looked at her expectantly in unison.

“Your remarriage.”

“Right, I was thinking that too.” Subhankar looked at his wife….. expecting to fulfill his dream. “Divorce you and marry your mother….. and go to an unknown place where no one would recognise us.”

“No…” Mrs. Sen strongly objected her son-in-law’s proposal. “I can’t cheat on my loving daughter….. keeping my daughter and two innocent grandkids alone in this uncertain and distressed world.”

“Yahoo,” That’s when Subhankar jumped on….. remembering another option. “Maa, you’ve already seen my widower friend Birendra. Few days back he expressed his wish of marrying you.”

“That’s absurd……. you know his marriage with Shabana is already fixed,” Munmun laughed. “Rather we may think about Sharif Chacha’s proposal… once he wished the same to me.”
