Exiled to the family farm for the summer

“There’s no way something that big would even fit!” Jake said as he leaned on his pitchfork and watched Becky spread hay over the last section of the dirt floor.

“One track mind much, Shorty? Patience and practice,” Becky shot back, “What, you want to watch?”

Jake’s eyes bulged and Becky burst out laughing, “Fat chance, Shorty!”

Becky turned and walked away before glancing behind her.

“You just going to stand there with your mouth open?” Becky asked, “And don’t forget the wheelbarrow!”

Jake pulled the tines of his pitchfork out of the soft dirt and walked over to toss it into the wheelbarrow. He grabbed the handles and guided it around to follow Becky out of the barn, Becky slowing down once they were out so they were side by side.

“What’s your favorite class?” Becky asked and then glanced at him, “And don’t say some shit like human anatomy!”

“Oh, trust me, biology sucks!” Jake said with a laugh, “I’m taking mechanical engineering, remember!

“Although, getting personally tutored in biology…”

Becky punched him in the arm, the wheelbarrow swerving as he nearly dumped it over with a laugh.

“I guess…” Jake said while he considered, “I guess physics. There’s lab work and some of the stuff we end up doing is pretty cool!

“There’s this thing called a double slit experiment that just makes no fucking since at all and…”

“Double slit experiment?” Becky asked teasingly, “We still talking about your physics class or what you and your roommate were doing in the dorms?”

Jake’s eyes bulged in surprise while he turned to stare at her. Becky just smiled and walked beside him until he reached the massive pile of manure. Jake came to a halt and then added the last load of the day to it. He glanced several times at her while she watched, but with an obvious look of thinking about something completely different on her face.

“You should really go,” Jake said after he had finished, “I mean, what you said about having your hand up a horses… you know, I can’t think of any other person at college with that experience so you’d be a shoe in for veterinary crap!”

Becky snorted, the faraway look disappearing while she glared at him.

“Now you not only smell like shit, I know you’re full of shit, too!” Becky said and turned to walk away.

Jake followed but glanced curiously towards the house that they were walking away from. They continued in silence for a minute until Jake glanced back at the house again.

“Where are we going?” he asked curiously.

“You really do smell like shit, Shorty,” Becky replied without even glancing back at him, “You ever go skinny dipping?”

Jake stumbled with a shocked glance at his cousin, unsure if she were suggesting what he thought she was.

“I… does taking a bath with my ex count?” Jake spluttered.

“Close enough,” Becky replied nonchalantly and continued walking without even turning to look at him.

Jake realized that they were heading towards the broken concrete stump of a silo, the top two thirds missing and a gap chopped through the wall at about head height. Becky walked over to the gap in the wall and then took both of her rubber boots off before standing on one foot to pull off a sock. As soon as she had finished she glanced up to see Jake staring at her without bothering to move.
